The Resolution below was passed by the American Legion during their statewide convention held in Peoria July 11th thru July 14th. We were told that they have approximately 120,000 members statewide. We were also informed that they had 1200 delegates that voted on this resolution and, although we can't confirm it, it is believed that not one of the delegates voted against it.

Below is an article from American Hunter Magazine showing the impact the hunting industry has on Pike County. The title "Big Bucks Cost Big Bucks" and the reference of Boone and Crockett Club submissions seems to imply the information in the article is only applying to Deer hunting. If this is the case then what the article fails to point out is that 99% of the leases mentioned are for all types of hunting, Deer, Turkey, Waterfowl, Coyote, Rabbit, Squirrel, etc.  Although this article helps make some good points, it does not show the boost in the local economy during the hunting season or during firearm events like "The Masters" held at PASA Park in Pike County. The legislation proposed by the General Assembly would effect the firearms used for these types of activities and thereby effect the hunting and the economy of Pike and many other Counties and the State as a whole. Not to mention that the legislation is a violation of our Constitutional right.
